Kansas City has had an especially tragic week, as of Saturday evening, seeing four homicides in four days with another seven injured from gun fire.

Saturday alone saw a double shooting near 21st and Kansas and a fatal stabbing at 49th and Bellefontaine. According to Kansas City Police Department, much of the violent crime has occurred simply from arguments, as was the case with the deadly stabbing.

"It appears this started over money. One of them owing the other money and unfortunately whatever agreement they had went bad and that's when the stabbing occurred,” said KCPD officer Darin Snapp.

Saturday’s homicide brings the city’s total to 48 for the year. On this date last year there were 38 homicides.

Here’s a brief rundown of the other violent crime in KCMO between Wednesday and Friday:

Wednesday 8 PM – a man shot to death near 57th and Bales

Wednesday 8:20 PM – double shooting injures two teens near Smart and Benton

Thursday 2 PM – a woman and teen shot in a double shooting

Thursday 4:15 PM – double shooting, road rage incident near 104th and Holmes kills one man

Friday 11:15 PM – a man is shot and killed inside his car near 26th and Myrtle

Rosilyn Temple, founder of KC Mothers In Charge, was at another vigil Saturday and said, once again, it’s time for the community to step up to stop the violence.

"We're here trying to make a difference, in rain, sleet or snow, we don't care, but we have to stop killing, allowing people to kill our children, our loved ones,” she said.

KCPD swore in new interim police chief David Zimmerman last week. They hope to hire the new permanent police chief by this fall.
