KANSAS CITY, Mo -- Police in Olathe Monday rounded up an illegal alligator.

Animal Control officers were called out around 3:30 p.m. Monday to the 1600 block of Penrose Lane on an alligator call.

When officers arrived, they spotted the alligator underneath a car and took it into custody.

Police think it was an escaped pet, but even then, a police spokesperson said gators are illegal in the city.

The alligator will be taken to a reptilian rescue in Manhattan, Kansas later this week.
