KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Archie, Missouri, schools were closed Wednesday due to a written threat, the district announced via Twitter.

School officials said the threat was discovered in one of the district’s schools Wednesday morning.

Deputies conducted a search at the school, and no suspicious items were located, the Cass County Sheriff's Office said. Investigators were still working to identify the person responsible for the message.

School officials said bus riders would be taken home and dropped off if an adult is available to care for them. Students without an adult at home will be taken to an off-site location until they can be picked up.

Parents will be updated as the district gains more information.
