Armed man tries to rob Overland Park bank, FBI says

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man brandishing a weapon attempted to rob an Overland Park bank on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Around 3:20 p.m., the man walked into the First Federal Bank at 8629 Metcalf Ave., and made a demand for cash while brandishing the weapon, according to the FBI Kansas City Division.

He did not get any cash and fled the bank on foot.

No one was injured in the incident, according to the FBI.

The man, in his mid 30s, is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He was wearing a green winter jacket, blue jeans, black gloves and a stocking cap. He had aviator-style sunglasses, black Nike high top tennis shoes and a backpack.
