KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four cats and a dog were rescued Sunday from a Kansas City, Missouri, apartment complex that caught fire last week.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Kansas City located the animals in an area of the Waldo Heights apartment complex they had not been able to access until Sunday.

KC Pet Project assisted ATF personnel in the rescue at East 80th Street and Troost Avenue.
“KC Pet Project’s Animal Services team was called to help capture the pets, who were cold and hungry but otherwise OK,” KC Pet Project said in a Facebook post. “They’re now safe and on their way to the campus, and we hope to find their owners to get these pets back with their families.”
ATF crews still are investigating the cause of the blaze that displaced more than 30 families.
The investigation began last Wednesday, and all tenants have been accounted for, according to ATF.
