KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A virtual purse fashion show fundraiser raised more than $30,000 to help teenage girls in the Kansas City area prepare for college and careers.
Awesome Ambitions, founded by 41 Action News Anchor Cynthia Newsome, hosted the event on Saturday. A Louis Vuitton purse donated by Diamond Banc, and a Patrick Mahomes autographed Jersey donated by the Chiefs were the top two items.
Through corporate sponsorship and individual donations, they raised $31,000.
Current and former girls who have been helped by the program also shared their stories as part of the online festivities.
41 Action News and Scripps Howard broadcasting also helped sponsor Awesome Ambitions.
