OLATHE, Kan. — The City of Olathe Public Works Department has been working around the clock preparing for the early arrival of winter weather conditions.

George Sertuche was on the roads monitoring conditions since 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
Several pieces of equipment are inspected before the crews hit the roads.

Sertuche said there’s a skeleton crew that goes out overnight to monitor the roads, especially the overpasses and bridges, which tend to freeze first.
Roads were pretty clear in the early morning hours in Olathe, but Sertuche said their crews would rather be over prepared than under prepared.
