KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Personnel with the Belton police and fire departments responded Thursday to a residence that had been struck by a vehicle, leaving a child seriously injured.
Emergency crews were called around 8:15 p.m. to the 500 block of Colbern, where a vehicle had crashed into a house.
An 8-year-old child inside the residence was hurt and transported to a local hospital by ambulance. On Friday morning, a Belton police spokesman said the child's condition was serious.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene on foot and was taken into custody a short distance away from the scene.
The Belton Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the incident, and anyone with information is urged to call 816-331-5522.
