KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Belton police are searching for a man who is suspected of stealing a truck and led police on a chase Saturday afternoon.
The suspect is a black male who police said was wearing all-black and has tattoos on his face and arms.
Around 3:20 p.m., police received a report of a truck stolen from the 100 block of North Scott Avenue. An officer located the vehicle near the 1200 block of North Scott Avenue and when the officer tried to stop the vehicle, the truck’s driver did not comply.
A pursuit ensued northbound on Interstate 49 past Highway 150. The driver, according to police, then drove south on East Outer Road. Police said the driver then traveled southbound in northbound lanes of Interstate 49.
Police said the officer also was involved in a crash with the truck near northbound Interstate 49 and the East Outer Road north of 155th Street. The suspect, according to police, ran into a wooded area.
