KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Blue Valley School District will be holding an open house Wednesday night at Blue Valley West to inform voters about an upcoming bond.

The event will be held in the library media center of the school and runs from 7-8 p.m.

The district hopes to educate voters about a $187 million bond that would build a new elementary school, fund new gyms in the high schools and provide maintenance and security upgrades across the district.

"It's kind of like a home," said Kristi McNerlin, Blue Valley Chief Communication Officer. "Often we have things that need to be fixed, like roofs and pavement. Things that aren't big sellers but they're things that you have to do."

Along with open houses, the district hopes to educate voters through social media and mailers.

Ballots will be mailed to voters, and must be submitted by noon on Jan. 28.
