Family located after boy found outside in Independence

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Independence police said the family of a young child found outside on Thursday has been located.

Police said the boy was found in the 600 block of South Huttig Avenue, near U.S. 24.

Around noon, police said they had been unable to locate the child’s parents.

A short time later, police said the boy's family had seen the post on social media and contacted them.
