KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Braymer, Missouri, man being held in connection to the disappearance of two Wisconsin brothers pleaded not guilty on Monday to tampering with a motor vehicle.
Garland Nelson was charged with tampering after admitting to driving the white F-250 truck, which Nicholas and Justin Diemel rented after arriving in the Kansas City area to check on cattle owned by their livestock company.
Nelson told law enforcement that he drove the truck from a residence in the 3300 block of Catawba Road to Clinton County, where he parked it in the commuter lot near Interstate 35 and Missouri Highway PP.
The brothers had driven the vehicle to Nelson's farm for business, but were not seen after that.
Nelson has been held without bond since the arrest in July because he is "a danger to the community."
Several other court appearances were delayed, and Nelson wasn't formally arraigned until Monday.
Though human remains were found on the farm where Nelson works, he has not formally been charged with murder and the remains have not officially been identified. He does remain the only suspect in the disappearance.
