Car crashes into Lee's Summit home; driver found with gunshot wound

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lee's Summit police are investigating after the driver of a car that crashed into a house was found to have a gunshot wound.

According to police, officers were called to a home in the 500 block of Northeast Richardson Place around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday after a car reportedly drove into a house.

When officers arrived, they found the car had crashed into the house with two people inside.

Both had serious, life-threatening injuries from the crash, but the driver was also found to have a gunshot wound, according to police.

Detectives are working to piece together what may have happened. Anyone with information is asked to call 816-969-1671.

Police did not say whether anyone was inside the residence at the time of the crash.
