KANSAS CITY, Kan. – - 4/5/18, Noon UPDATE | Police say the child's is showing improvement at a local hospital and doctors are hopeful the child will survive.
EARLIER | Emergency crews are responding to northeast Kansas City, Kan. where a seven-year-old was struck by a car.
Kansas City, Kan. Police Chief Terry Zeigler says that the child was struck just before 5:30 p.m. near N. 3rd Street and Troup Avenue.
Zeigler says the child’s injuries are life-threatening.
Officials say the SUV was heading south when the accident happened and the child was in the street at the time.
Police tell 41 Action News the driver of the car stopped and remained on the scene.
