KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs announced Tuesday they plan to open a health and wellness facility next spring in Overland Park.

The facility, to be called Chiefs Fit, will be located in the Regency Park Shopping Center near 93rd Street and Metcalf Avenue.

In a release announcing the new facility, Chiefs President Mark Donovan said the team has been looking to promote health and wellness in the community.

“We’re extremely excited to announce Chiefs Fit and can’t wait for this venture to be up and running in a few short months,” Donovan said. “We have continued to focus on health and wellness over the past couple of years, and not just for our players, coaches and staff.”

The Chiefs won’t be the first team in the NFL to launch such a concept, which is part of a partnership with M6 Football, an organization created by the original founder of 24 Hour Fitness. The San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans have all partnered with M6 on similar projects.

“We are very excited and proud to be able to partner with the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs to bring this amazing facility to life,” M6 founder Mark Mastrov said in the release. “Our goal is to enhance people’s lives through health and fitness and keep them fit year round.”

The team says the new fitness center will mirror the health and safety protocols used at Arrowhead Stadium and will follow state and local orders for gyms and fitness facilities during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
