Chiefs fans tailgate before dawn

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fifteen hours before gametime, Chiefs fans started lining up outside the Arrowhead Stadium gates, which didn't open until 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

"We're all family here,” Chiefs fan Johnathan Crocker said. “That's all it is. We're just family.”

It's a family found by the love for the Chiefs.

"We get breakfast together, we get lunch together, we got dinner together and we go to bed early the night before," Chiefs fan Amber Binson said.

It's the feeling of your typical tailgate -- food and friends, just in the middle of a road outside the gates to get inside Arrowhead Stadium.

It's an experience surprising fans from the visiting team.

"See all the food and stuff, I didn't tailgate like this in Green Bay,” Packers fan Art Warnecke said. “They don't do it this early.”

The Chiefs fans all are hoping for a win, but know it's a little tougher without number 15 Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.

"It will be a close one,” Crocker said. “We should still be able to pull it out.”

Binson agreed.

"I feel like our defense is going to pull it out today," she said.

But the tailgating is not a unique situation for these fans. They say no matter what time, the game starts, they'll be out there before dawn.
