KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A four-year-old boy in Clinton, Missouri died Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself in the head.
According to a post on the Clinton, Missouri Police Department Facebook page, the boy located a firearm in a home on the 500 block of South 11th Street. He accidentally fired the gun and hit himself in the head.
Officers were called to the home at about 12:33 p.m. and found the boy's mother attempting first aid. The boy was breathing when officers arrived. They then began rendering aid until paramedics arrived.
He was then transported to a waiting Life Flight helicopter and flown to a hospital in the Kansas City area but did not survive his injuries.
Police haven't said if they intend to file charges in the case.
