KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Clinton County officials are warning residents of a phone scam making the rounds.

The sheriff’s department, in a post to Facebook, said the callers say warrants are being issued for a person’s arrest for failure to report to jury duty.

The scammers then ask the person to buy gift cards or prepaid cards and give them the card information.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office reminded residents not to follow the scammers’ instructions, and asked anyone with questions to call 816-539-2156.
