Clinton police have issued a Silver Alert for a 62-year-old man who told friends he may be going to Montana in statements that raised concerns about his mental state.

Michael Goehrig spoke with a friend by phone around 2 p.m. Wednesday, shortly after the Clinton Police Department issued an advisory about his whereabouts. Goehrig told the friend he was in Bozeman, Montana.

Before Wednesday, Goehrig had made last made contact with someone around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, when he said he was traveling to Montana by an unknown route. His statements “indicated a possible altered mental state,” Clinton police said in the advisory.

Goehrig is 5 feet 11 inches tall and 283 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. It is unclear what he was wearing when he went missing. He has heart conditions and diabetes, according to police.

Police said he could be in a white 2002 Ford F-350 pickup truck with Missouri license plate number 9NH 7XU.

Anyone who sees Goehrig or his vehicle, or who may have information on his whereabouts, should call 911 or the Clinton Police Department at 660-885-5587.

Editor's note: Police initially provided an inaccurate license plate number for Goehrig's vehicle. The story has been updated with new information from police.
