College Basketball Experience celebrates 10 years

Posted

As part of their 10th year anniversary and because the Big 12 Tournament is in town, the College Basketball Experience, located in the Sprint Center, will be open every day in March. It is open year round.

The two story space is full of interactive exhibits and an actual hardwood court to work on your skills.

Also within the College Basketball Experience, is the Men’s Basketball College Hall of Fame.

Celeste Lupercio, Director of Events at CBE, says, "I think a lot of people don't realize this is the official hall of fame for men's college basketball."

Lupercio says Kansas City makes sense to anchor the Hall of Fame. After all, the National Association of Basketball Coaches is right up the street on Main. Lawrence, home of the KU Jayhawks, is just about 40 minutes across I-70 and all Big 12 Tournament play comes into downtown Kansas City.

Luperio says about ten thousand fans will make their way through the 42,500 square feet of fun in March.

"For people who are really into college basketball, of course you're going to come in here. You're going to be amazed by everyone in our Hall of Fame."

Six to eight names are added to the wall every year. Many of the exhibits are also interactive.

"We are looking at the college careers of coaches, players, coaches, and contributors and everything they experienced while they were in college."

The induction ceremony for 2017 will be in November. The Hall of Fame Classic will feature Baylor, Creighton, UCLA and Wisconsin.

The names of this year’s inductees will be announced today on the College Basketball Experience twitter account, @TheCBE.

This weekend the College Basketball Experience will have extended hours with some special deals floating around.  But, even at the regular prices, around $15, it’s nothing but net in terms of a good deal.
