KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A motorcyclist died in a multi-vehicle crash Friday night on Interstate 35 in Olathe, Kansas.
The crash happened around 7:19 p.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of I-35 under 127th Street, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.
The three vehicles involved were all traveling north when a 2018 Yamaha YZF struck the back of a 2014 Jeep, and the Yamaha then swerved left and collided with a 2014 Subaru Forester.
The operator of the motorcycle, a 26-year-old Gardner, Kansas, man, died from his injuries. He was wearing a helmet, per KHP.
The Independence, Missouri, man, 33, who was driving the Jeep, and the Spring Hill, Kansas, man, 57, who was driving the Subaru were not injured. The passenger of the Subaru, a 56-year-old Spring Hill woman, was also uninjured. All three individuals were wearing seat belts, the crash report said.
The crash caused traffic delays, with the northbound lanes being shut down for several hours as police investigated. Traffic was diverted at Santa Fe Street during the closure.
