KANSAS CITY, Mo. –  Parts of Kansas City saw more than five inches of snow Sunday. Now crews are working around the clock to clear the roads.

“This is crazy,” yelled a woman at Price Chopper in Brookside during the storm.

“Crazy” is one word to describe Sunday. Now the attention is on the road.

“It is a process. This is a big storm for Kansas City and we had crews out there nonstop to tackle it,” said city spokesman Chris Hernandez.

Hernandez said more than 180 crews tackled the snow-covered roads. They prioritized main streets and then neighborhoods.

“We are happy the snow is stopping, but the wind is strong and blowing snow back into the street. We need some of the wind to die down. We will have crews here overnight so that people that do have to get out in the morning can get to the main routes."

Garrett Parker was at Price Chopper in Brookside. He was just getting back into town from Arkansas.

"I came in from Arkansas on the highway, it was crazy we were going like 45 on the highway, it was pretty bad out there,” said Parker.

Aside from the city crews, RideKC has plows out to clear bus routes.

“We are hoping the forecast for the overnight temperatures are in the teens because that will enable some of the salting we did to take effect and remain in effect until overnight,” said Hernandez.
