The body was discovered by kayakers on the lake, who reported it to police.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office said fingerprint analysis confirmed the body was Dawit Tesfaye, 35. Tesfaye had been reported missing in Shawnee in March 2017.
The sheriff's office said there are no indications of foul play and the preliminary investigation indicates this wasn't an accidental drowning.
The sheriff's office said the investigation continues as they wait for the official coroner's report.
