KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Overland Park, Kansas say a bicyclist has died after being struck by a car Friday.

Emergency crews were called out around 9:30 a.m. to near 135th Street and Caenen Street on reports that a car had struck a bicyclist.

Police identified the victim Monday as 72-year-old Karman Wells of Olathe, Kansas.

Wells was taken to an hospital where he later died.

An initial investigation indicates the car and cyclist were both eastbound on 135th Street just west of Quivira Road when the car struck the bicyclist.

Police have not said if the driver would be cited, though there were no indications of impairment.

Police said Wells was not wearing a helmet.
