KANSAS CITY, Mo. — At least one person is dead following an early morning crash on Interstate 70 at Van Brunt Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri.
Police said the call came in around 2:20 a.m. At least two vehicles were involved, including a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck.
Police said eastbound traffic, including the tractor-trailer, was stopped due to road construction.
The semi driver told police he turned on his flashers and tapped his breaks to try to get the attention of drivers behind his vehicle.
Police said the driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado didn’t see these signs and crashed into the trailer.
The pickup’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
Police had shut down all eastbound lanes for several hours to investigate the crash.
They were reopened just after 6 a.m.
