Driver dies in single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning near I-70, Prospect

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A driver is dead after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

Just after 1:55 a.m., authorities responded to a reported injury crash.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that a blue Kia Forte was traveling eastbound on I-70 near the Prospect Avenue exit when it left the interstate and entered the grassy area.

The Kia then struck a construction sign, a light pole, and two trees.

The driver of the Kia was transported to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead by medical staff.
