KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Kansas, commercial roofing company will close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elite Roof Systems' “entire roofing business” will be auctioned off beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, at 1028 South Ferree Street in KCK, according to a news release from Legacy Auction Group and Realty.

“This auction event represents a sad day for us,” Richard Tooley, the commercial roofing company’s owner, said in the release. “I can no longer maintain normal operations. It has been a crushing challenge to find reliable labor and enough work when everyone is struggling to get by.”

Auction items, which include roofing spray rigs, metal bins and power tools, can be previewed from 2-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, or 8-10:30 a.m. on Dec. 18.

COVID-19 protocols will be followed at the auction, the release stated. A full list of items available for auction can be viewed on the Auctions KC website.
