KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dozens gathered Sunday night to remember the life of a young woman who was shot in killed in Lawrence earlier this month.

Leah Brown, 22, was killed when unknown suspects fired shots at a crowd outside a bar on 11th and Massachusetts. Colwin L. Henderson, 20, and Tremel D. Dean, 24, also died in the shooting.

Brown’s friends and family met at Winwood Skating Rink Sunday night to light candles and share their favorite memories.

Brown’s mother, Gretchen Brown, says her daughter skated there every week, creating a second family at the rink.

“She kept me laughing, and smiling and on my toes, and busy,” said Brown. “And I miss her. I can't even believe this is happening still. I'm still just beside myself that we're facing this.”

A crowdfunding website has raised over $26,700 in the last few weeks with the help of hundreds of people. The website says funds will go to cover time off work for Brown’s family and funeral expenses.

Police say they still don’t have anyone in custody for the shooting. They ask anyone with information, video or pictures of the incident to call the Lawrence Police Department at 785-832-7509.
