KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A day after what would have been a local man’s birthday, his family released balloons in his memory.

Deandre Cooper’s family say he was robbed and killed inside his home on the 5500 block of S. Benton on Dec. 12.

Cooper would have turned 33 years old Saturday. His family gathered outside his home for a vigil on Sunday.

“He was a great person,” said Angela Holley, Cooper’s mother. “He loved people. He loved life. And he had a good heart.”

KCPDsays investigators have limited information on the incident. They are asking anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8744.
