KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- FedEx is hiring people for 1,500 open seasonal positions in Kansas City.

The openings include package handlers and other support positions.

This is part of a network-wide effort to hire 50,000 people as the busy holiday season draws nearer.

Most of the people hired for these positions will be seasonal package handlers at FedEx Ground facilities, but the company said in a news release that there will be other opportunities.

It also said that last year, more than a third of people hired for seasonal positions like these stayed with the company once the holidays were over.

“FedEx offers its team members the chance to grow and reach their full potential thanks to excellent training, affordable medical benefits and a strong ‘promote from within’ culture. It’s a great place to grow and advance your career, and these factors make FedEx one of the best and most admired companies to work for around the world,” Terry Koskovich, senior manager at the KCMO FedEx hub said in the release.
