KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Federal Transit Administration on Tuesday announced that a Kansas City-area project will receive $250,000 in funding.

The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority received the funding to help plan transport on demand services as part of the nearly 18-mile Rock Island Railroad Corridor.

The first phase of the project was slated to open this fall, with additional phases opening by the end of 2019.

Planners built out the project on a railroad track that hadn’t been used since the early 1980s.
