Festival on the Vine features local, national dancers in the 18th and Vine Jazz District

Posted

Here’s a new phrase for you: festival and chill!

Or, based on this weekend’s weather forecast:  festival and chill and stay dry!

Starting Thursday night, more history will be made in the 18th and Vine Jazz District with the opening performances of this year’s Festival on the Vine!

Tyrone Aiken, artistic director for The Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, stopped dancing long enough early this morning to fill us in on the “moving” details.

Thursday night, at the historic Gem Theater, will feature a showcase of some of the area’s favorite dance companies: City in Motion, Owen/Cox Dance Group, Storling Dance Theater and Wylliams Henry Dance Theater.

From ballet to modern to post-modern, it’s all there.

For July 1, it’s a First Friday Block Party!

The AileyCamp students and staff will entertain.  Mad Science will amaze.  So many artists of varying disciplines will create.

Every age will find something to experience.

It’s Diversity in Dance, all weekend long on 18th and Vine.
