KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A flash of fire briefly separated one KCMO firefighter from his crew Sunday as they worked to put out a house fire.

The firefighters were headed down a flight of stairs to knock down a basement fire at a house at Little Blue and Noland Road.

Flames flashed from the basement and caused the separation.

Crews quickly knocked down the fire and found their co-worker.

All made it out of the house under their own power, according to a fire department battalion chief on the scene.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital to be checked for any injuries.
