KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Five people from Kansas City, Missouri, including a 6-year-old girl, were injured Saturday afternoon in an explosion on a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Just after refueling, a 1993 Chris Craft vessel owned by Robert Baber, 71, exploded upon starting due to a lack of ventilation and mechanical failure, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Online Boat/Drowning Incident Report.

The incident happened with the boat docked at 2:18 p.m. in the Millstone Marina Gas Dock at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Patrick Baber, 39, was ejected from the boat into the water.

Carl Harris, 42, suffered serious injuries in the explosion.

He was transported by LifeFlight to an area hospital.

The driver, Robert, and Patrick were taken by ambulance to a local hospital along with a 6-year-old girl and Cynthia Sterling, 48. All four were listed with moderate injuries.
