KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With more rain in the forecast, a flash flood watch will go into effect Monday evening for Kansas City-area counties.
The National Weather Service said several rounds of thunderstorms are expected to bring another 2 to 4 inches of rain to the area, with some areas getting 5 inches, in a span of 72 hours.
Streams already running high will likely flood, and with soil already saturated, many areas will see running water, NWS said.
NWS advised residents to heed warnings and avoid driving through water.
Law enforcement should be notified of any unreported flash flooding.
The watch will be in effect until early Thursday for counties on both sides of the state line.
