From KCK to Johnson County: 1st new KCK transit route in more than a decade

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — RideKC and UG Transit celebrate the first new bus route to be operated by the Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas in more than a decade Tuesday.

This is the first all-day route from KCK to Johnson County, Kansas. Buses will run hourly throughout the week from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The route will take passengers from Quindaro Boulevard to 51st Street in Roeland Park, Kansas, in less than 25 minutes.

KCK Director of Transportation Justus Welker said the new route will impact more than 14,000 people who live within a less than a mile of the route. It’ll also be a transit option for over 5,000 jobs located along the route

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was scehduled for 10 a.m. at Fast Fred’s Market at 1806 N 18th St, Kansas City, KS 66104.
