KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Employers are looking for staff as medical marijuana moves forward in Missouri. License winners are holding a job fair in Kansas City Saturday.

The Missouri Cannabis Career Fair and Expo will be at Metropolitan Community College - Penn Valley campus. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. Educational sessions start at 10:00 a.m. A similar event was held in St. Louis last weekend in which 325 attended.

"There are going to be thousands and thousands of new jobs created from this industry," said Karin Chester, Vice President of Missouri Medical Cannabis Trade Association.

The state awarded nearly 350 operating licenses for cultivation, manufacturing and dispensaries.

"Companies are going to be needing between five and fifty employees," she explained. "When you work in a medical marijuana facility in the state of Missouri, you have to have a worker card. You can't actually get a worker card until you have a job. So you obtain employment with a facility operator, you get your worker card, but then your worker card is good to work in other facilities also."

To get a card, applicants have to pass a background check and can't have any felonies on their record.

Admission is $29.
