LIBERTY, Mo. — A company which provides care for seniors in their homes is giving you the chance to provide those seniors with a smile this holiday season.

Home Instead Senior Care coordinates the "Be a Santa to a Senior" campaign every year. The care-giving agency places Christmas trees at different retailers with small wishlists written on the ornaments of the tree. Shoppers can take a wishlist, buy the products and return them to the retailer where they got the wishlist either wrapped or unwrapped. Volunteers with Home Instead will then deliver the gifts to the seniors.

"It's important to not forget the seniors who are home without family. They might not have a gift coming if it weren't for this program," explained Anita Van Vickle, of Home Instead Senior Care.

Since its inception in 2003, Be a Satna to a Senior has collected more than 2 million gifts across the United States. Van Vickle said delivering the presents is the best part.

"A lot of them don't know it's coming. The joy on their faces is just amazing," she said.

The last day to return gifts for the program is December 13. Click here for more information on how to get involved and find a list of participating retailers.
