KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City nonprofit hopes to kick one of its biggest problems.

Over the weekend, Global FC, which provides underserved youth an opportunity to play soccer, had its bus stolen from a church parking lot near Blue Ridge Cutoff.

"Without our bus, we're really at a loss to do what we do," John Parker, director of coaching, said.

The organization has grown from working with 30 children in 2015 to nearly 300. And for those hundreds of children, the Global FC bus is what gets them to and from soccer practice.

"When we had to tell the kids last night that it was gone you know, they were devastated," Parker said.

For more than a year, Global FC has parked the bus in the same location, moving from its previous location due to crime.

"We had parked other places in Kansas City, and we had to deal with some vandalizing and getting broken into," Parker said.

Throughout the parking lot are signs and security cameras, but they weren't working at the time of the crime.

Parker told 41 Action News he filed a police report and posted photos of the bus to social media in hopes the community will keep a close eye out. With several logos on the outside of the bus, Parker said it won't be hard to miss.

Global FC also provides mentors and tutors for each child.
