KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A good Samaritan helped catch a hit-and-run driver suspected of DUI early Friday morning.
Police said they were called to the intersection of Westport and Mill in response to a two-vehicle crash. A black Jeep Wrangler had been going west on Westport when it hit a tan Cadillac. The driver of the Jeep kept going, fleeing the scene and running red lights.
Police said the Jeep crossed double yellow lines near Westport and 43rd, hitting a silver Nissan Rogue head-on.
The Jeep’s driver got out of the car and ran south on foot. That’s when a witness chased him down and brought him back to the scene, holding him there until officers arrived.
The driver of the Cadillac had some neck and back pain but didn’t want to be treated. The driver and passenger of the Nissan Rogue both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Jeep was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence.
