KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Grain Valley, Missouri, first responders made two water rescues on Tuesday morning after heavy rain led to flooding on local roadways.

Crews responded to one incident on Duncan Road east of Seymour Road involving a FedEx truck. Fire crews used a boat to rescue the driver, who became stuck around 10 a.m., Central Jackson County Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Eddie Saffell said. The water on the road was between 1.5 and 2 feet deep, and crews did not want anyone to walk in the water.

In the other incident, Jackson County sheriff's deputies responded to a minivan that was stuck on Seymour Road south of Duncan Road. Deputies walked a family of five inside the minivan to safety, Saffell said.

No one was injured in either incident.

After rainwater covered the road, people tried to drive through it and became stuck. That area near Seymour Road commonly floods after heavy rains.

Officials said the water was not rapid but that it was unsafe to drive there.
