Grain Valley police chief retires

After 42 years in law enforcement, Grain Valley Police Chief David Starbuck recently retired.

He worked for the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 2001 and pursuing a nine-year career with the National Drug Intelligence Center.

Later, Starbuck joined the Grain Valley Police Department and was appointed interim police chief in late 2014. He took the job full-time in January 2015.

James Beale was appointed as the interim police chief.
