HCA Midwest Health reports 'staggering and record data' on fireworks injuries

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fireworks injuries sent more than 50 people to HCA Midwest Health facilities over the Fourth of July weekend.

Doctors and nurses treated a range of fireworks injuries, from minor burns to injuries to hands and eyes, according to a Tuesday night statement from the health care provider.

Eight patients were admitted to the Grossman Burn Center at Research Medical Center, one with critical injuries, according to the statement.
