KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A life-threatening, head-on collision sent several people, including children, to the hospital late Saturday night.
It happened just after 11:30 p.m. at N. Chouteau Trafficway and N. Belmont Avenue.
According to Kansas City police, an SUV traveling north on North Belmont Avenue crossed over the center line and struck a car head-on. The driver and passenger of the car suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital. Three children were in the SUV, ages 3, 9 and 12, and were taken to the hospital by relatives who arrived at the scene.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Both drivers are under investigation for impairment.
No one in either vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
