Law enforcement from local and federal agencies investigated a Northland home Tuesday.

Neighbors told 41 Action News that early Tuesday morning, agents from the FBI and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department were investigating a house in the 6000 block of North Cosby Avenue in the Northland.

A spokeswoman from the FBI said agents were at the location as part of an ongoing investigation when during the search, the homeowner returned to the area and shot himself after seeing a law enforcement presence.

The FBI said Mark Sellers, 64, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition for a self inflicted gunshot wound. He later died of his injury.

KCPD investigated what they called an "apparent suicide" at the home on July 18 after finding a woman dead.

Neighbors told 41 Action News the couple who lived in the home had been there for years, yet were rarely seen.

"I'm not gonna speak for everybody, but from hearsay and talk, ya, no one really got close to him at all. Just very to himself... Not out and about much," said Amy Brown, who's lived across the street for four years.

The homeowner had several businesses, one listed at an address in Georgia. There’s an out of state lien filed against him.
