Heavy rain has pushed creeks and rivers out of their banks in Missouri, flooding several roadways and apparently causing at least one fatality.
The National Weather Service on Sunday issued flash flood warnings for eastern, central and southwest Missouri, where three to six inches of rain fell during the weekend, and up to four inches more of rain was expected through Monday.
KYTV reports that authorities on Sunday recovered the body of a driver from a creek in northern Greene County. The victim's identity and circumstances of the death haven't been released.
The Joplin Globe reports authorities also rescued people from nearly 30 vehicles trapped by rising waters in Barry and Lawrence counties in southwest Missouri.
A section of Interstate 70 outside St. Louis was also closed because of flooding.
