KANSAS CITY, Mo. — 41 Action News' annual "Fill the Fridge" perishable food drive started Tuesday morning.

Throughout the week, 41 Action News is partnering with Harvesters at various Price Chopper locations to collect perishable food items.

Here's how it works: 41 Action News and Harvesters will be set up at a different Price Chopper from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. On Tuesday, it'll be at 9717 N. Ash Ave. in Kansas City, Missouri, near Liberty.

Here are the locations for the rest of the week:

Wednesday, Sept. 4: 19601 W 101st St., Lenexa, KS
Thursday, Sept. 5: 1600 SE Blue Pkwy., Lee's Summit, MO
Friday, Sept. 6: 500 NE Barry Rd., Kansas City, MO
Saturday, Sept. 7: 7201 W 151st St., Overland Park, KS

We're looking for items such as:

  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Orange juice
  • Milk
  • Hot dogs
  • Apples
  • Bacon
  • Yogurt
  • Oranges
  • Pre-packaged lunch meats (not deli)

Once you're done shopping, volunteers will meet you outside and put those items into Harvesters' large refrigerated truck.

To date, more than 922,000 meals have been collected since the start of this drive in 2012. The goal is to reach one million this year.

If you are unable to attend one of these Price Choppers, you can still donate at any Price Chopper. At each register, there is a coupon to help you donate. You can also donate online.
