KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A tricky Halloween forecast is certainly not a treat for children on the hunt for candy and the parents taking them door-to-door.

The 41 Action News weather team says by Thursday evening, the sun will have dried up roads in the Kansas City metro, though it will still be cold, with high temperatures just barely reaching 40 degrees.

Once the sun sets, temperatures will drop even further.

Indoor trick-or-treating events may be the best option for those who want to stay out of the cold.

Here is a list of locations where children and their parents can enjoy Halloween fun inside:

  • Lowe's Home Improvement: 3-7 p.m., Lowe's, 4201 Sterling Ave., Kansas City, Missouri
  • Sheels: 3-6 p.m., 6503 W 135th St, Overland Park, Kansas
  • Red Bridge Shopping Center: 4-6 p.m., Red Bridge Shopping Center, 11212 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri (Note: Families will be briefly outdoors as they go from shop to shop, but there are several indoor activities.)
  • Jackson County Sheriff's Office and CoCo Key Water Resort's Trunk or Treat: 5-8 p.m., CoCo Key Water Resort, 9103 E. 39th St.
