KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police said two people were killed in a high-speed crash early Sunday morning.
An initial investigation indicates a red Kia Forte was traveling North on North Brighton when the driver lost control on the curve around just before 3 a.m. The car then hit three traffic signs and sheared off a large tree at the base, landing on its side. Then, the tree fell on top of the car near North 72nd Street.
The driver and a front seat passenger died. Two people were riding in the rear of the car. One person had life-threatening injuries. The other was expected to recover.
