KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thousands were out of power Saturday afternoon, as high winds caused power outages across the Kansas City metro.
More than four thousand customers were affected as of 1 p.m., according to the Evergy outage map.
Lee's Summit was hit the hardest with more than two thousand customers without power.
Winds were predicted to reach up to 50 mph on Saturday.
A representative with Evergy said that wind often causes tree limbs to hit the lines or the wind picks up the line, causing bursts.
